Members of the JCR can offer their time and skills to volunteer on the JCR Committee. Each member of the committee has a different role and is responsible for organising events, liaising with college and communicating with members in the area of their responsibility. Some members of the JCR Committee are also members of the Executive Committee (the Exec). Committee members serve for one year.
Committee candidates stand for election and are voted in by the rest of the JCR. Non-executive Committee positions are elected at OGMs throughout the year according to a timetable set out in the Standing Orders. The Exec is elected for the following academic year by a JCR-wide ballot every Trinity term.
Executive Committee
The Executive Committee is responsible for the day-to-day running of the JCR and acts as its Trustees. They take on additional responsibilities above those of the rest of the JCR Committee and their roles are generally more demanding.
The President coordinates the activities of the JCR and acts as Chair in its meetings. They represent JCR members on a number of College committees. Get in touch with them if you have any queries or don’t know which Officer to contact.
The Vice-President acts as the secretary to the JCR, carries out different administrative tasks for the JCR and oversees communication between the JCR’s committees and its members.
The Treasurer manages the JCR’s finances and advises the rest of the JCR Committee on financial matters. They are responsible for making and publishing yearly and termly budgets.
The Access and Equal Opportunities Rep’s role covers both prospective and current students. They are involved in organising open days and offer-holder days, and also coordinate the JCR’s work on equality-related issues.
The AcAf is a liaison between JCR members and College on academic matters and help members to access academic support. They also oversee the subject societies and support their presidents
The Welfare Officers support the welfare of JCR members through peer support, welfare information and resources and a programme of welfare events. They also maintain a welfare presence at Entz events.

As it stands, I am not fully aware of what exactly the Af-Org rep does, but I’m sure it probably has something to do with liaising. I will do my best to find out by Michaelmas!
